History hiding in your home

Six chapters in one workbook. Each discovery has its own activity; these are not separate products.

Fictional child explorer beside a wooden cart and a craftsperson in an imagined ancient workshop.

The wheel

Wheels help us move loads.

Move a load
Fictional explorer watches a paper-maker lift a screen beside a bowl, a brush and a book.

Paper and books

Paper gives ideas a place to stay.

Keep an idea

Timekeeping

People measure time in different ways.

Notice time passing

Printing

Fictional explorer discovers an envelope, a telegraph key with wires and a modern phone in an imaginary comparison scene.

Send a thought

Print, gather some pencils, begin

Use A4 portrait paper, actual size (100%), one page per sheet. Keep the printer's headers and footers off. The PDF has comfortable margins; check the print preview first.

Print the two card sheets single-sided at the same scale on the same opaque paper or card. A grown-up cuts along the dashed lines. Start with three pairs and add the other three when ready. No precise double-sided alignment is needed.

Keep the answer key separate while playing. A spare sheet of paper can cover a scene during recall activities. Color is helpful for the photography color question; the key also accepts the objects by name.

A little learning time together

Practice remembering names, ideas and sequences through illustrated activities.

  1. Read a discovery

Explore one short illustrated idea together. The explorer's visits to the past are pretend adventures; the historical explanations are factual.

  2. Let them try

Circle, match, number or draw. Try 10–15 minutes, or stop sooner. Saying an answer is welcome when writing feels tiring.

  3. Come back to a clue

Close the earlier pages and revisit a few ideas another day. It is a conversation, with room to wonder and try again.

Made around your child

One clear photo guides their illustrated likeness. A recurring explorer connects the chapters, with short instructions designed for ages 6–9 and adult support. The character is an artistic interpretation; exact likeness and consistency are not guaranteed.

Add their name or nickname, interests and family details if you wish. We confirm how these details can be included before work begins. The sample explorer is fictional.
